Health Law

Health law is the heart and soul of what brought the founding attorney to law school to begin with and is the primary motivation behind starting Narya Law.

After nearly a decade helping thousands of people of all backgrounds reclaim control over their health and fitness and, where possible, fix the parts, postures, and patterns that were broken, he noticed an all-too-common theme. Clients had been repeatedly lied to about the effects, dangers, ability to stop, or value of every single component of their health, from nutrition to medications to treatments. They were lied to by people selling a product or a supplement, by physicians and physical therapists, and by pharmaceutical companies and even regulatory agencies. Unable to tolerate this dynamic anymore, he dedicated himself to a legal career going after those who abuse the trust placed into them, often by people who have no choice, and whose lies and omissions lead to real harm. In short, we go after trust-abusers and liars, specializing in those who operate in the healthcare space.

It’s one thing to take a risk when you know what that risk is and reasonably how likely it is to take place. A person can then weigh the pros and cons in accordance with their personal history and values and make an informed decision. It is an entirely different matter to be convinced, cajoled, or prescribed to take a risk you don’t know you are taking. Tens of thousands of Appalachians (where my family is from) were told that OxyContin wasn’t addictive. Tens of thousands were told that Vioxx didn’t increase heart attack risk. Minors and their parents were not made aware of the psychiatric dangers of taking Prozac at certain ages. The list of examples on pharmaceuticals alone is nauseatingly long. More importantly, the deaths would populate miles of gravestones, and the lives ruined would dwarf even that. Each life was impacted or ended by a risk they didn’t know they were taking, at times even being assured they weren’t taking it. They trusted in the good faith, honesty, and competence of particular physicians, manufacturers, and FDA regulators, and it cost them everything. Our job is to use the law to make them pay.

We go after all trust-abusers and liars in the health industry – a food manufacturer that sells food containing unnecessary and harmful ingredients, supplement makers that don’t disclose all of the contents or the proper nutritional values or make claims entirely unjustified by the available scientific data, and medical professional and pharmaceutical companies who manufacture, advertise, or prescribe a treatment, pharmaceutical, or biologic presenting undisclosed risks.

We are free to make choices. It is our right, however, to know what those choices are before we make them. The principles of informed consent, bodily autonomy, and medical sovereignty demand it. And when those entrusted to care for or be honest with us fail in fulfilling that fundamental duty, through hubris, incompetence, or malice, they should be held to account.

If you have been lied to or hurt by someone in the health care space, please fill out the Intake Form with the requested information. Within 48 hours, we will reach back out to you and, if it appears the case is within our wheelhouse, schedule a Discovery or Strategy Meeting. We look forward to hearing from you!
